Voltage. TV transmission format. Phone line characteristics..
Depends on which features you'd expect to work ? ..
Am I incorrect in saying that Teac have a similar box running in Australia ? perhaps its a matter of it works when you plug in, or you need to upgrade then firmware ? |

Sorry , but I might have some bad news. The UK tuner covers the UHF bands IV and V freqs 520 - 820 MHz only. In Australia, so far as I can tell DVB -T is broadcast in VHF bands I II & III freqs 45MHz - 230 MHZ AND UHF bands IV & V depending on area
(refer to http://www1.jaycar.com.au/images_uploaded/austtv.pdf )
This means that the uk might be ok depending where you are based
In Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth , you would only get 1 of the multiplexes, in Wollongang , Darwin, Newcastle or Toowoomba , you would get them all |

In the I-Player settings, there is an option to choose "region" there is France, Germany etc Australia, and "rest of the world" settings.
Go to: Menu > My Player > Preferences > User Interface > Region
Now considering the Australian is basically exactly the same hardware, then i would think it highly likely that all Aussie s just have their region defaulted to "Australia".
The Region setting is used to tell the what band of DTT to search for. I've messed around with it in the past, like with selecting France as the region, it only searches for the frequency band that the TnT (DTT in France) broadcasts.
As for power, you can buy converters easily from Maplins or Argos etc. Cheap and easy to find.
As for TV standards, Aussie DTT is like Europe. It uses DVB, so the box will work. Unlike the U.S which use ATSC for digital broadcasts. - I think this is the "rest of the world" option. (Stephan?)
Some more information Here
I would find think it is highly likely that you will work in Australia, but a definitive answer from someone here at could clear it up quickly.

Try what i've said in my post, by going to the region setting in your menu, and do a rescan after you picked Australia. You will see that the box will tune that frequency. |

Unfortunately, setting region to Australia will not overcome the fact that the UK tuner is UHF only |

Actually, i think the "rest of the world" option is not a set frequency range. Because cant fit in every digital region frequency settings into the box, i think this setting will try to tune (using DVB) the widest frequency possible.
Thats the kind of thing i would put in a device, but i cant be sure unless correct me. |

It seems a bit odd putting in a region that actually hinders your viewing!
Disregard what i've said.
Ebay the box! |
