Videos need to be encoded in MPEG1 or MPEG2 format, 25 fps, and not more than about 4-5 Mbits/second. (My maximum is currently 3.5Mb/s and they play fine) Total file size should not be more than 2GB.
If you want the video to fill the screen it should be 576 (or 288) pixels high. The width is determined by the 4:3 ratio so 320x240 becomes 384x288 and 352x240 becomes 416x288.
I hope this helps. Post again if you have any more queries. I have recoded quite a few single track music videos but I haven't yet done any full length films. |

I find it can't cope with streaming video over WiFi. |

Ive got over 400 films which i stream with no problem at all, ok they arent superb quality but definately watchable (on a 42 inch screen) but on my 24 inch upstairs they look great, basically get your film and change it to VCD mpeg i use CUCUSOFT cost about £10 but you get lifetime updates a 300MB avi file turns out roughly 415MB avi being a HD recording.

You mean 512kb broadband if so this should have nothing to do with the quality im using wifi and workd a treat but only after ive used the cucusoft product SVCD gets a bit dodgy so stick with vcd/MPEG1 .

I had huge problems streaming video using a Belkin F5D6050 wireless network adapter. Both picture and sound would break up regularly. My iPlayer is located in the room directly below my PC and router. I moved the wireless devices around including putting both next to the window with little improvement. Then I switched to a wired connection and now it works almost flawlessly. I can stream MPEG1 and MPEG2 fine. Some of my videos are 3.5Mbps whereas before it would struggle with 1Mbps. I put it down to a cheap wireless device.
IMO a wireless connection is fine if all you want to do is stream internet or MP3s but if you want to stream video from your PC you are better off using a wired one. |
